Marks 25 Time: 45 Minutes
Q 1. Choose the correct option from the following:
1. Pick out the mixed fraction for the improper fraction 12/7 is
a) 1 5/7
b) 1 2/7
c) 2 1/7
d) 7 1/2
1
------------
7 | 12
- 7
---------
0 5
Therefore mixed fraction = quotient x (remainder/ divisor) = 1 5/7
2. The simplest form of 150/60 is
a) 3/2
b) 5/2
c) 3/4
d) 5/3
Solution: First cancel zero in numerator and denominator and we get the fraction 15/6
Find HCF of 15 and 6 3 | 15
5| 5
| 1
we get 3 x 5
2 | 6
3 | 3
| 1
we get 2 x 3
Here common factor is 3 so HCF is 3
Now divide the numerator and denominator by (15/3)/( 6/3) = 5/2
3. 3 minutes are what fraction of an hour?
In 1 hour we have 60 minutes so fraction we get 3 (minutes)/ 60 (minutes) In fraction units should be same hence we convert hour to minutes.
